Reading in 1B

This week I had the pleasure of visiting 1B and reading one of my favourite stories, 'Fox and Fine Feathers' - by Narelle Oliver. 1B were so engaged throughout the book and were able to answer so many questions about the different ground birds and their behaviours. Thanks 1B and Mrs Barton for the invitation, it was certainly a highlight of my week.

Application for Extended Leave - Travel

We have had a large number of families applying for holidays/travel so far this term. Families are encouraged to travel during school holidays where possible. If travel during the school term is necessary, please be aware that an Application for Extended Leave - Travel needs to be submitted prior to the leave occurring, along with travel documentation as evidence (flight/accommodation booking, itinerary etc). These applications can be accessed by contacting our office directly.

COVID-19 is still circulating in the community and we have had some ongoing confirmed cases across our classrooms impacting both staff and students. We can all minimise the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases by maintaining good hygiene practices at home and School. COVID 19 baseline measures are continuing in 2024 to help reduce the risk of transmission among staff and students. You can help by: - staying home if unwell, and do not return until symptom-free - practice good hygiene by washing hands often - making sure COVID-19 vaccinations are up to date We thank you for your support and please stay healthy.

School Canteen

At the February meeting, the P&C voted to return the management of the canteen to Tamworth Public School in the coming weeks. The canteen will remain open under P&C management for three weeks - Tuesday to Friday (closed Mondays) - until Thursday, 14 March 2024, while the school reviews options to continue providing a strong, reliable canteen service to our school community. Due to the requirements under the canteen tender and licencing process, it is unfortunate that the canteen may be closed for a period of time during the transition from being a P&C operated canteen to a school operated canteen. The school will keep our community informed as the process takes place. Thank you to our dedicated team of canteen staff, Natalie, Helen, Amanda and Kerry, who have worked short-staffed to keep the canteen running this term. Your hard work and flexibility is very much appreciated.

Mr John Ireland
