FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Big week in sport
This week is a big week in sport for a number of students. Monday saw the Boys Cricket Team take on Timbumburi. In what was a huge run chase (192), the TPS boys fought back well, managing 153 at the end. Thank you to Mr Johnson for his efforts with the cricket team and to the parents who have supported them this season. Last Friday, the TPS Tennis Team took on Tamworth West in the PSSA knockout. With a great win, they now progress to the North West semi-finals. Lastly, we have a number of students attending the State Swimming Championships in Sydney today and tomorrow. We wish them all the best in their swimming pursuits.
ANZAC Day March Friday 25 April
The Tamworth ANZAC Day March will be taking place on the last Friday of the school holidays. Tamworth Public Students have a proud tradition of marching at this event. Students who are able to join in the march are to meet at 9:30 am in Bourke St near the intersection of Dowe St. This will be in Tamworth Public School winter uniform with no hats, please. We will be holding an ANZAC commemorative service at school on Thursday, 1 May.
Easter Hat Parade
Tomorrow (Friday 4 April) the annual Easter Hat Parade will be taking place. Thank you to the hardworking P&C who will have a cake stall from 9 am. The parade will begin on the oval at 9:30 am followed by morning tea on the grounds. It is a mufti day for the students. We can't wait to see some amazing hats.
Celebrating Great Attendance
This term we are introducing a new award to celebrate students with great attendance. This week, all students who have 95% or above attendance will receive an Attendance Merit Award. These can be used like a merit in our award system. Congratulations to these students. Our overall attendance this term at TPS is 92.6%. Let's raise this next term. This award will be presented each term as we celebrate great attendance!
Thank you for a great Term 1
On behalf of the staff at Tamworth Public, thank you for a great first term. Already we have had a busy, productive few months, with more exciting things to come. I wish all our families an enjoyable Easter break. Students commence Term 2 on Wednesday, 30 March.
